About Us

The Virgin Islands Department of Education’s Office of Public Relations and Communications exists to heighten the public’s awareness of the Department’s mission to ensure that all students are prepared for college or the career of their choice upon graduation from high school.

In support of the mission, the Public Relations Office provides publicity for events, activities and the many successes of the Department’s schools, students, teachers, employees and leadership through internal and external communication.

The Office of Public Relations and Communication, through an integrated marketing communications approach services the marketing, branding, public, and media relations, advertising and graphic design needs of the Department, districts, and schools.

The Public Relations Office reports directly to the Commissioner of Education.

 

Eulalie R. Rivera K-8 School to Dismiss Students Early on Thursday, December 12, 2024, Due to Water System Issues

The Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) informs parents and guardians that Eulalie R. Rivera K-8 School will dismiss students early at 10:45 a.m. today, December 12, 2024, due to ongoing work and assessments required for the campus water system.

The health and well-being of our students remain a top priority, and it is necessary to ensure running water is available on the campus for the proper functioning of on-site facilities. Maintenance personnel are actively working to resolve the issue and restore full operations.

Parents and guardians are asked to promptly pick up their children from the school at the designated dismissal time. Transportation will be provided for students who utilize school bus services.

We encourage parents and guardians to stay tuned to the school’s communication platforms for updates regarding school operations for tomorrow, Friday, December 13, 2024. School officials and maintenance personnel are closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely updates.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we address this matter.

Virgin Islands Department of Education State Office of Special Education Invites Parents to Join Advisory Panel on Special Education

The Virgin Islands Department of Education's State Office of Special Education (SOSE) invites parents of children with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) who receive special education or related services through the Division of Special Education to join the Virgin Islands Advisory Panel on Special Education.

This is a unique opportunity to engage with SOSE leaders, learn about the panel’s important role, and contribute to the future of special education in the Virgin Islands. To further facilitate open dialogue, SOSE is hosting Conversational Coffee & Tea with SOSE in both districts:

  • St. Thomas-St. John District: Charlotte Amalie High School 9th Grade Academy Wing
    Date: Saturday, December 14, 2024         Time: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

     

  • St. Croix District: St. Croix Educational Complex Library
    Date: Saturday, December 21, 2024         Time: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

These gatherings provide a casual, interactive space for parents to meet with SOSE staff, share their experiences, and explore ways to advocate for and support their children’s education.

Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Resumes In-Person Instruction on Monday, December 9, 2024

The Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) informs parents, guardians, and students that Ivanna Eudora Kean High School will resume in-person instruction today on Monday, December 9, 2024. All students should report to campus for regular school operations.

The Virgin Islands Department of Education extends its sincere appreciation to parents, guardians, and the community for their patience and understanding as we prioritized the safety and well-being of the school community during the temporary transition to virtual instruction.

School officials look forward to welcoming students, faculty, and staff back to campus.
