The Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the well-being of all students. Ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment goes beyond education, it is a fundamental responsibility. As part of this commitment, and in strict compliance with the Virgin Islands Code, all VIDE employees, volunteers, contractors, and affiliates must adhere to the Mandatory Reporting Policy.
This policy serves as a critical safeguard, reinforcing accountability and ensuring that any suspicions of child abuse, neglect, or sexual abuse are addressed appropriately and without delay. The purpose of the policy is to:
Establish consistency in identifying and reporting suspicions of child abuse, neglect, or sexual abuse.
Ensure timely reporting to the appropriate authorities, as mandated by law.
Foster a safe and supportive environment that prioritizes student welfare.
VIDE recognizes that child safety is a shared responsibility. The Department urges all individuals working with students to remain vigilant and proactive in upholding the highest standards of care and protection. By reinforcing these protocols, VIDE strengthens its ongoing efforts to create a secure educational space for all children across the Territory.
