The Virgin Islands Department of Education's State Office of Special Education (SOSE) is pleased to announce the public presentation of the results from the Twelfth (12th) Annual Parental Satisfaction Survey. This event will take place on Monday, December 9, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and will be held virtually via Zoom for participants in both the St. Croix District and the St. Thomas-St. John District.
Acting State Director Kathleen Merchant invites parents, guardians, and community stakeholders to join the presentation, which will highlight findings from the survey conducted by the University of the Virgin Islands' Eastern Caribbean Center (ECC). The survey, completed telephonically, aimed to collect and report trend data for the 2022–2023 school year. These findings address one of the 17 Indicators in the State Performance Plan (SPP) and Annual Performance Report (APR).
The survey data is a vital tool in assessing and improving services designed to enhance academic and functional outcomes for children and youth with disabilities, ages three to 21, across the Territory. Parents and guardians of children receiving special education services, members of the Virgin Islands Advisory Panel on Special Education (VIAPSE), SOSE team members, district special education staff, and other interested individuals are encouraged to attend. Access is available via the Zoom link or QR code provided below.
For additional information or assistance, please contact the State Office of Special Education at (340) 773-1095, ext. 7087, or (340) 774-0100, ext. 8804.
