The State Director of Special Education, Ms. Kathleen Merchant, announces that the Special Education FFY 2025 IDEA Part B Federal Grant Application is available for public review in both school districts for the next 60 days.
Public comments will be accepted for up to 30 days following the conclusion of the review period. Comments may be submitted via email to Ms. Merchant at kathleen.merchant@vide.vi or delivered in person to the Office of Special Education at the Frostco Building in St. Thomas or the State Office of Special Education at the Main Educational Complex on Hospital Street, St. Croix, between March 17 to May 19, 2025.
Copies of the grant application, including a tentative state budget, can be reviewed at the following locations:
- Offices of Special Education (State and District)
- Offices of the Superintendents of Schools
- Offices of the Commissioner of Education in both districts
- University of the Virgin Islands campuses
- Charles W. Turnbull Regional Library (St. Thomas)
- Florence Williams Public Library (Christiansted, St. Croix)
- Julius E. Sprauve School (St. John)
