The Claude O. Markoe Elementary School commemorated Black History Month with its first African Carpet Fashion Show on Thursday, February 28.
The auditorium was transformed into a runway where students in kindergarten through 6th grade strutted down the red carpet wearing various African styles and fashions.
The fashion show featured everything from bright colored and neutral/earthy colored kente cloths, dashikis, African floral prints and other traditional African prints.
Many of the outfits showcased were made specifically for the show. The outfits varied from jumpsuits, matching skirt sets, matching pants sets, dresses, skirts and blouses. To complete the look some models were seen wearing a matching purse, shoe, head wrap and African inspired jewelry.
