Under the supervision of their teachers, students are encouraged to write brief biographies on the lives of persons from the Virgin Islands who have made great achievements and contributions that we should all celebrate. Follow the guidelines for writing the biographies, some of which will be included for publication in a series of VI History textbooks and students and teachers can become published authors.
Provide information on the persons:
• Birth Place and Birth Date
• Death Place and Death Date (if deceased)
• Tell about the Early Life and Educational experiences
• What Occupation or Jobs did this person have?
• Why is it Important for Virgin Islanders to know about this person?
Selected biographies will be included in a series of Virgin Islands History textbook that are being developed for grades three through eight. (3-8) All completed and approved biographies will be posted on the Department’s Social Studies Hub of the GoOpenUSVI Microsite. Only responses from VIDE accounts will be permitted to create the biographies.
