The Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) announces public school operations effective Tuesday, October 10, 2023, for both the St. Thomas-St. John District and the St. Croix District.
St. Thomas-St. John District- Effective Tuesday, October 10, 2023
- All public schools in the St. Thomas-St. John District will operate on their regular schedules.
- Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School (BCB) will resume in-person learning. BCB students are to report in-person on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Students are required to walk with their devices to school each day until further notice.
St. Croix District- Effective Tuesday, October 10, 2023
- Public schools in the St. Croix District will operate on their regular schedules, except for those schools on an abbreviated schedule.
- St. Croix Abbreviated Schedules (due to the ongoing heatwave). Bus services will be provided.

- Eulalie Rivera K-8 School (ERR) will reopen for students and maintain an abbreviated schedule operating from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm.

- St. Croix Central High School (CHS) will reopen for students and maintain an abbreviated schedule operating from 7:40 am to 1:05 pm.

- St. Croix Educational Complex (SCEC) and the Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC) will also maintain their abbreviated schedules from 7:40 am – 1:05 pm.
- Virtual Learning- John H. Woodson Jr. High School will temporarily operate virtually, adopting a full-day schedule from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

- We understand the importance of a smooth transition for students from in-person to virtual learning. Students have been provided with clear instructions on how to access their virtual classrooms.

- There will be a scheduled device distribution for students in need of devices to facilitate their virtual learning experience. Devices and supplemental packets will be available for pickup starting on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, based on the following distribution schedule:
Tuesday, October 10, 2023
- 8th graders can pick up devices and instructional packets from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the school’s cafeteria.
- 7th Graders can pick up devices and instructional packets from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the school’s cafeteria.
Wednesday, October 11, 2023 (Last day to pick up devices)
- 7th graders and 8th graders can pick up devices and instructional packets from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the school’s cafeteria.
Eligible students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to obtain the necessary devices for a seamless virtual learning experience.
These changes for the St. Croix District reflect the VIDE’s commitment to the safety and well-being of students and faculty, while ensuring that instruction and learning remain a priority.
