Dear VIDE Family,
It is an honor to continue the educational journey I once started with you. Today, I come before you humbled, competent, and ready to serve as your Commissioner.
Educating the populace of any society is no simple task. Among other things, it requires a variety of competencies, skill-sets, experiences, knowledge bases, creative and innovative minds, but most importantly, people who care. I am confident that we have a full complement of faculty and staff who possess the necessary essentials to educate our people and I believe in each of you 100%. You have remained committed to serving our students and adult learners, and as such, kept the engines of the V.I. Department of Education running. Do know that you are the most valuable asset to the Department of Education? It is your hard work and dedication that ensures the VIDE meets the needs of our number one priority, our students.
Our ship has left the dock and has set sail to continue its educational voyage; this time, with me as your captain. While what we do remains, it’s critical that the manner in which we do it changes to achieve our goal of student success. The key to our success is being the best we can in our respective roles and working together as a TEAM. I look forward to working hand-in-hand with each of you.
Thank you for the overwhelming welcome and support. We’ve now embarked on another journey to continue educating our most precious jewels, the children of the Virgin Islands.
To our success,
Racquel Berry-Benjamin
Commissioner Nominee
