Bulldogs and

Dolphins play

for 2019 Title

 
 

On Friday, March 8, the Leonard E. Dober Elementary School Bulldogs flew over to St. Croix to take on the Pearl B. Larsen Elementary School Dolphins for the 2019 Territorial Elementary Baseball Championship title.

This year’s “Best of Three,” tournament came off the heels of an abbreviated regular season for both districts which were still healing its bruises from hurricanes Irma and Maria. Nevertheless, the young champs from both districts were excited to face-off against each other at Estate Profit ballfield in Kingshill, which played the perfect host for the highly anticipated event.

Stymied By Leonard Dober

Bulldogs, Lose 19-0

Friday was a long day for the Pearl B. Larsen Dolphins, falling to Leonard Dober Bulldogs 19-0.

One bright spot for Pearl B. Larsen Dolphins was a single by female Topaz Newton in the first inning.

Jeffrey Segura Mota was the winning pitcher for the Leonard Dober Bulldogs. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out seven.

Jequan Ojari West took the loss for Pearl B. Larsen Dolphins. They allowed four hits and seven runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one.

Na’Jai Hospedales started the game for Pearl B. Larsen Dolphins and went one and one-third innings, allowing 12 runs on five hits and striking out two.

Leonard Dober Bulldogs tallied two home runs on the day. Fabricio Ozuna. put one out in the first inning. Jeffrey had a four-bagger in the third inning.

Topaz led Pearl B. Larsen Dolphins with one hit in two at-bats. Leonard Dober Bulldogs racked up nine hits on the day. Keshawn Callwood, Jr. and Yadiel Segura Mota each racked up multiple hits for Leonard Dober Bulldogs. Keshawn went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Leonard Dober Bulldogs in hits.

Leonard Dober Bulldogs was sure-handed and did not commit a single error with Keshawn making the most plays with nine.
