CAHS Music Students Serenade Audience at "An Evening of Ensembles"

The Charlotte Amalie High School (CAHS) Music Department welcomed dozens of parents, family members, teachers, students and the community to “An Evening of Ensembles” on October 26 in the Ruth E. Thomas Auditorium. The music concert event, which was free and open to the public, featured beautifully arranged pieces performed by ensembles of over 100 students.

Audience members entering the auditorium was greeted with prelude music performed by the jazz band. Khalil Finch, the marching band drum major, formally welcomed attendees on behalf of the Music Department. The concert featured 19 selections from the Hawks Concert Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, vocal performances from Ripples and Swans on the Lake, in addition to selections from individual instrument families, such as the flute, clarinet, strings and saxophone. Music performed was arranged by the CAHS music faculty as well as students. Audience members were also pleased to hear well-known selections, such as “Billie Jean” and “Someone Like You” by Grammy Award-wining artists Michael Jackson and Adele.

The concert was produced by Mr. Frances Callwood, AP Music Theory and Jazz Band instructor; Mrs. Naomi Toussaint-Williams, Hawks concert choir director and Music Department chairperson; Mr. Luben Daniel, Mello-Hawks and Symphonic Band director; Ms. Roslynn David, Concert Band and Beginning Band director; and Mr. Michael Lake, Ripples and Swans on the Lake director.

The Music Department’s Christmas concert is slated for Sunday, December 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the same location. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
