ST. THOMAS, USVI – Members of the Rotary Club of St. Thomas East donated two dozens of backpacks filled with school supplies to first grade students at the Joseph Gomez Elementary School on Monday, September 10, 2018. The backpacks are equipped with pencils, crayons, glue sticks, reusable water bottles, and books for the students to read and share with their classmates.

Rotary East Chapter President, Tim Hall, welcomes the energized first grade class as he reveals the cool contents of each backpack, “We work hard to help prepare you all for the school year with the help of our community. We are able to share these cool things with you because the community shares with us to! Remember to share your books with your classmates because you have different books in your bags. We hope that you be inspired because that is our motto this year!”

The various Rotary Club chapters have been distributing backpacks filled with school supplies to various public and parochial schools as part of their yearly back-to-school bag distribution program. Usually approximately 300-400 bags are distributed to the public school students depending on enrollment.
