Each month, students at Lockhart Elementary School enjoy the benefit of demonstrating positive behavior as part of the school's special "Dolphin Clicks" rewards program under the Department of Education's PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) initiative.
For April 2017, students were rewarded with an Easter Egg Hunt. Students with at least 30 Dolphin Clicks were eligible to register for the event. Some students participated, while others opted to save their points for next month's event, a Water Fun Day on May 19 that requires 40 Dolphin Clicks. This represents one of the benefits of using the PBIS Rewards program--it provides students with opportunities to make choices about the use and saving of their Dolphin Clicks.
On Tuesday, April 11, the PBIS team hid a total of 990 Easter eggs on the field for three sets of students (grade levels K-1, 2nd - 3rd, and 4th - 5th). The students submitted their tickets, lined up, and charged onto the field for candy- and prize-filled eggs. The event was also special, as Lockhart's PBIS mascot, Marley, made its debut.
